WHO I AM

Wondering who this over weight Asian bloke with the funny name is? I'd like to call myself a Modern Marketer with a Passion for Innovation. 'METRIC MAKERS' is my humble attempt at writing down some of my past and present experiences from the 'corporate world'. Having been in some kind of marketing role for over 10 years as well as an individual who was born before the internet was invented, I believe I may have some practical advise for some of the budding marketers, small businesses and enterprises around the world.

 

I was born in a little known island in the Indian Ocean called Srilanka. With a population of just over 20 million, Srilanka does not have the typical Central London vibe but it still has a lot of charm and has taught me most of the practical side of marketing, especially when less than 10% of the population having a disposable income to actually dispose of it for something other than their basic needs. (Get in there Maslow!) One needs to be very creative and immensely practical in planning marketing related activities in a developing country.

 

For a good 80% of my career I have been living and working abroad; United Kingdom to be more precise. I was thrown into various scenarios, market conditions, difficult individuals and enterprise needs during this time and have had the priviledge of being part of great organisations such as SriLankan Airlines, AirFrance-KLM, APM, WebTek (now Slicebread), Intuit and at present, WSO2. I won't say I came trumps all the time but I did manage to survive in the land of the queen (soon to be King) and have acquired some great knowledge when it comes to social media and integrated marketing that I'd love to share with other marketers.

 

WHAT I DO

I do try my hand almost at everything but I believe my sweet spot is at helping organisations and individuals to take their brands to the next level and I believe social media has given us a great opportunity to do so. I am passionate about marketing and I do love when the underdog wins! I'd love you to be the hero and for me to take a back seat as sometimes being the hero's best friend is better rewarding!

  • IMPARTIAL ADVISE

 

I don't want to call myself a small business champion but I am a bit of a Robin Hood as I do tend to learn a lot of from the rich corporates and pass them onto small businesses. I can also help marketers who are part of enterprises to get started with their social media side of things.

I have been through a lot of tough times and I strongly believe I could impart some of my experiences to a few budding marketers world wide via a particular course or workshop.

 

  • BLOGGING

 

Believe it or not I still want to be an author at one point in my life but until then I will write a few things here and there to keep me on my toes.
